Located in the historic center near the train station and the car terminal (Piazzale Roma), Hotel Canal is only 2 minutes from the "Piazzale Roma" Stop, where the vaporetti that travel the Grand Canal, -the main waterway of Venice with its many splendid palaces-, take off for the Rialto Bridge, and Saint Mark's Square, close to major museums and landmarks.
Piazzale Roma is also the place to take the vaporetti that go to Murano, the island famous the world-over for its glass work.
As you reach the hotel you will go through a succession of suggestive narrow streets and small squares, picturesque corners and important historical and art landmarks of age-old Venice, all truly appealing. On the Fondamenta of Hotel Canal you can make out the Church of San Simeone Piccolo, a prelude of Neoclassic taste, built in the 18th-century, according to the same concepts used in the building of the Pantheon in Rome: with a deep entrance portico that gives to the main area and an imposing cupola.
In Campo dei Tolentini, next to the prestigious University Architecture Institute of Venice, whose entrance was designed by Carlo Scarpa, you will find the beautiful 16th-century church of San Nicolò di Tolentino which houses fine paintings from the 16th and the 17th century, and the grandiose baroque altar.
The Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, is a marvelous example of late 15th-century architecture where important events and congresses are held, and thanks to excellent acoustics, also prestigious concerts of classical music. The Renaissance staircase is impressive and so is the great hall with marvelous huge canvas paintings.
One of the most original museums in Venice is a 10-minute walk from the hotel: the Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo where among furnishings from the 18th-century there is a precious garment collection exhibit, featuring costumes from the 18th-century, made from figured fabrics embellished with embroidery and lace, a testimonial of the sumptuous elegance that made Venice famous the world-over.
For those who love shopping, if you go past Ponte degli Scalzi, 2 minutes from the hotel, the very long Strada Nuova is lined with stores and shops offering all types of goods, and on the Mercerie, you will find major brand name fashion boutiques.

From Venice International Airport "Marco Polo" take shuttle Venice Air Terminal ATVO or bus number 5 for Venezia – Piazzale Roma. From here the hotel is a 5-minute walk away: take Fondamenta Santa Croce on Grand Canal, continue straight on Fondamenta San Simeone Piccolo, at number 553 you will find Hotel Canal.
From Treviso (30 Km)
From Treviso International Airport "San Giuseppe" take shuttle Eurobus ATVO for Venezia- Piazzale Roma. From here the hotel is a 5-minute walk away: take Fondamenta Santa Croce on Grand Canal, continue straight on Fondamenta San Simeone Piccolo, at number 553 you will find Hotel Canal.
By train
Exit Santa Lucia Train Station, Hotel Canal will appear in front of you, on the fondamenta across. Go through the large bridge on your left (Ponte degli Scalzi) and turn on your right, after 100 meters you will have arrived.
By car
From the toll booth of A4 and A27, follow the signs for Venice. Park the car in one of the parking areas of Piazzale Roma. Walk from here and take Fondamenta Santa Croce on Grand Canal, continue straight on Fondamenta San Simeone Piccolo, at number 553 you will find Hotel Canal.
